The Azalea Youth Soccer League's
Recreation Program is for boys and girls of all
skill levels, ages 3 to 18. The Program is
intended to teach the game of soccer while building
player skills in an environment that encourages an
understanding of sportsmanship and teamwork.
Listed below is a description of the programs and
corresponding age groups offered by AYSL. Parents can
determine the appropriate age group for their child by
viewing the age group table.
Little Eagles - Under
5
The Little Eagles Program is designed to introduce 3 and 4
year old boys and girls to the game. The focus is on getting
the kids comfortable with the ball as well as "gently
teaching" basic skills through fun activities and drills.
This gives them the head start they'll need prior to joining
the U6 recreational soccer program.
Four-year
olds have the option of playing in Little Eagles or in the
Explorer (U6) group.

Explorer - Under 6
The Explorer Program features introductory soccer
instruction for boys and girls with small sided
games in a fun environment. Activities
are designed with age appropriate curriculum and fun
soccer activities.

Challenger - Under 8
In
the Challenger Program boys and girls receive introductory
soccer instruction with small sided games where the focus is
on instruction and having fun. Girls have the option of
playing in a coed division with boys or in an all-girls
league.

this age group, instruction begins to focus on
teaching the players how to strike the ball properly
for passing and shooting purposes and how to play
away from the ball on a larger field. In the
U10 and older age groups, there are no coed
divisions, only all-boys and all-girls.
